Rash 2 year old....dr or not?

DS was a bit off colour for a couple of days not eating much low fever.

Now seems fine in himself but has a rash on his chest. Small red spots.

Does he need to see a Dr or as he's now ok do I assume it's just a virus? I don't want to waste their time.

Scarlet fever?

I would go to GP because if it is he will need antibiotics

DoItTooJulia · 14/04/2014 08:45

Drs area.ways happy to see a small child, always. Take him, might be nothing, but a least he will have seen a doctor.

Hope he's ok.

I was wondering about scarlet fever but he's not really had much of a temperature!

Seeing the dr just to be on the safe side Grin

Rashes can be viral, too, can be from so many things. I would probably keep at home; he'd have to be obviously ill (quite unhappy/quite poorly, not just off colour) for me to take to doctor. Good luck. :)

how did you get on? I think my 22 month old dd will be seeing dr tomorrow with the same... wondering about scarlet fever too.

The tongue is the giveaway in scarlet fever, apparently

My DCs are prone to post-viral rash which is small red spots, usually on the chest/back. They sometimes get it after coughs/colds/sore throat an it's harmless.

That said, with all the outbreaks of scarlet fever in the past few weeks I'd get it checked out just incase.
