Hi all I'm new to all this so please bear with me, my daughter is 11 days old and has been suffering with silent reflux confirmed with GP yesterday ( older daughter had it so I knew what to look out for) but this time round I feel terrified that she is going to choke to death on the milk and acid that is going up and down we have had a couple of episodes of her swallowing down the acid and I'm sure she was struggling to breath GP told me not to worry and that she wouldn't choke due to her natural reflexes but I feel awful I don't sleep or eat just spend all day watching her has anyone had any simular experiences GP said it would take about a week for gaviscon to take full affect .
Thanks

Hi, I can't really answer about the gaviscon as my DS was prescribed ranithidine (sp?), but when is she making the choking noises, is it quite soon after feeding?

The best advice I had with DS was basically never to let him lie flat. So this meant holding him upright for about half an hour after a feed, putting him in a bouncy chair rather than on a blanket and putting his moses basket on a bit of a slope (if you have a stand or a cot then you can pop a book under the legs at one end or you could put a folded up blanket under the mattress).

Hope this is of some help, good luck.
