Sprained finger

My 9 yr old dd's pinky got hit by a basketball on Tuesday. It didn't hurt until about half an hour later. It then got swollen up and was very bruised. Took her to the minor unit that evening and the nurse examined her. Because my dd could move her pinky the nurse decided not to X-ray and said it's a sprain. My dd's pinky doesn't hurt unless she bends or presses on it and on a scale of 1 to 5, she says the pain level is now 0.6. I have now buddy taped her fingers but being such a worrier, please reassure me that it's not broken! If it's a sprain, how long do I need to keep her fingers buddy taped?
