Travel sickness! Help!!

dd is nearly 5, she has horrendous travel sickness. Joy rides and traveleze don't work, wristbands has no effect. Within 10-15 minutes she will vomit, then every 5 minutes afterwards. We have a long journey coming up and obv would like to try with minimal sickness. Any suggestions?

Have you taken her to the doctors? My Gp prescribed phenergan for my dd which works better than meds which I bought over the counter. It gets a bad name from people drugging their children with it which is why it's prescription only now but in the low dose you need for travel sickness my daughter isn't sleepy but it does work. Good luck, travel sickness is so miserable!

Miserable is about right! Poor kid vomits twice on the 15 min journey to gymnastics and same again back I am debating not taking her as she is fed up of the sickness. I have been to the GP but he was reluctant to prescribe anything, I will be revisiting the GP!

Avomine might work, but it is for 5 yrs plus.

DS2 is similar, he's four and very motion sensitive.

When we have to go on trips, he has a very plain breakfast eg toast with nothing sugary like jam etc on, and no drink an hr before travel. He also sits in the front and is reminded to watch the road. Windows open or temperature kept cool. Loose, light clothing.

GP might be able to advise also re whether a combination of meds can be taken, due to severity.

Ahh, that sounds really severe. Mine is more on long journeys especially in the mornings. Not sure you could use phenergan each time you go in a car. Presume you sit her so she is looking ahead, window slightly open etc? I hope your GP is more helpful when you return.

Yeah she faces ahead, window open to let air in, no big meals before hand just something plain. All the usual stuff! She is getting very fed up, she vomited 3 times in ex's girlfriends car today on a 25 minute journey! Poor dd!! She is also the same on buses or trains. I don't have a car so reliant on public transport a majority of the time.

How awful, that's very severe.
We only do local things because of DS's travel sickness most of the time. All my friends' children are fine for hours in cars. It's very limiting but fingers crossed not forever.

She is ok taking tablets as she takes 3 a day for a bladder problem, will have a look and see if I can get her some.

She has been like it since she was 18 months ish!

There's a problem with the manufacturing I think ohnoppp. Kwells is same drug I think (hyoscine), so that would be an alternative if you can get it instead

Avomine is IME excellent, hope you can get hold of some, We've used it on ferry crossings and long coach journeys and it has always worked a treat.

joy rides have no effect on dd, she still vomits! I will search for avomine!

This is probably going to sound a bit but doing vestibular rehab exercises might help. If you google exercises for travel sickness there's some info on them on net doctor.
