How high can a temperature be from teething?

My 13mo has had a temp the last couple of days, it's getting up into the high 38s, and I'm trying to keep on top of it with calpol and nurofen.

He has very red cheeks, I can feel a premolar coming through at the top - should I be concerned about the temperature being caused by something else or is it normal to have such a high fever with teething?

Thanks.

My GP says anything in the 37s could be teeth but once you hit 38 it's probably something else.

Hi when my now 9 yo was teething he regularly had temps over 40, though he suffered very badly with teething.- Toxic poo, bleeding bottom, high temp, frequent night waking, it was quite awful, it lasted nearly 1 year on and off.
