What advice did your GP and the walk-in centre doctor give you?

plum100 · 24/02/2014 20:48

I would be verh concerned - he hasnt passed urine for over 48hrs? What did ur gp do?

GirlsonFilm · 24/02/2014 20:49

What did the GPs say? It might be if he has a temperature he may be sweating out the fluids, having said that keep him drinking lots of water.

Moreisnnogedag · 24/02/2014 20:53

Hmm that doesn't sound awesome. Is he having sneaky wees in nappy (if in one)?

Personally unless I was brimming with confidence about the GP (which I don't think you are otherwise you wouldn't be posting) I'd pop to A&E and see what they say. Is he otherwise ok? Running around just itchy? That would reassure me too.

Peanut917 · 24/02/2014 20:54

My gp said he isn't dehydrated which I knew as he is drinking 3x amount he normally does. But just said give him plenty of fluid. Walk in centre said not dehydrated or urine retraction so see gp tomorrow. He doesn't have a temp and isn't sweating. X

Waves to Peanut

MadameJosephine · 24/02/2014 20:57

No urine at all since Saturday? If this is the case I would be taking him to A&E

Peanut917 · 24/02/2014 20:58

He is in a nappy. At home we have it off just to see. All nappies are bone dry even throughout the night. The nurse showed the most concern for him. He is running around and acting like normal. He has a few off moments where he cries and just sits with u. Last night the out of hours gp was in local A&E. X

Any swelling?

TheGreatHunt · 24/02/2014 21:00

How have they examined him? I mean does his bladder feel full?

Peanut917 · 24/02/2014 21:01

No swelling at all. It's baffling. X

TheGreatHunt · 24/02/2014 21:02

Did they do an ultra sound scan of the area to check? I'd get him back down there to check again.

Peanut917 · 24/02/2014 21:03

Doc on sun felt his tummy - looked in nappy. Nurse and gp felt tummy to and gp looked at willy and all around. Tonight nurse asked question looked in his mouth and took temp x

OP posts:
LocalEditorLincolnshire · 24/02/2014 21:03

What was his temp peanut?

Peanut917 · 24/02/2014 21:04

They said they couldn't feel bladder so wasn't full. But where is all the fluid he's drinking going?? X

OP posts:
Peanut917 · 24/02/2014 21:04

Temp was 36.2 x

I only mention as my DS had nephrotic syndrome. Causes lack of urine (kidneys).

Peanut917 · 24/02/2014 21:08

Anything is a great help. Feeling rather deflated by them all. He's never had problems. X

OP posts:
TheGreatHunt · 24/02/2014 21:12

Take him in tomorrow and demand a scan.

Peanut917 · 24/02/2014 21:13

I will get him back at gp but won't see the same one as today. X

OP posts:
pudseypie · 24/02/2014 21:18

I would also demand a scan and a second opinion. We've unfortunately had a few situations where doctors have been wrong with my ds and you'll never regret trusting your own instincts when it's for the good of your child.

Peanut917 · 24/02/2014 21:19

Will gp do a scan? Il do anything for my boys. Feeling helpless. X

Wolfiefan · 24/02/2014 21:22

BP checked?
Swollen tummy?
Are you sure nappies are dry? (You can weigh them!)

Peanut917 · 24/02/2014 21:23

No bp check. No swollen tummy. YeH nothing in nappies. X

Honestly if you are certain there has been no urine passed since Saturday I would be going to A&E now for another opinion and not leaving until they were 100% certain all was well.

Sadly I have been in the situation where one doctor fobbed us off, GP decided to reiterate the same common (but in this instance totally wrong) advice and then DD landed up seriously ill hours later. I have to say listen to your inner worry and act on it. The "worst" that can happen is you spend time at A&E to prove all is well but on the other hand if there is a problem it really needs to be looked at now.
