Tonsillitis at 8 months

Dd has tonsillitis and was given a numbing spray and told to take calpol and ibuprofen alternatively over 2-3 intervals. She is also cutting 2 teeth. Is there anything else I can do to help her as she cries out in pain. Giving lots of cuddles etc. she's not really eating much food either. She's still side drinking milk but not her usual amount.

Not sure about anything to help with the pain. But my 13 month old has just had hand, foot and mouth and had the blisters in his mouth and throat. He wouldn't eat so I went back to purees. Bought some stage 1 jars of baby food which he managed well.

Hope your dd feels better soon.

Would she lick ice cream? Or sip cold water/drink through a straw? Or milk/yogurt? I would try cold things. I found that a plain bagle totally frozen helped with teething, they can scrape tiny bits off and it gives some relief as it is cold. Also a bagle is quite easy to hold firmly whilst chewing it.

Thats great advice guys, thank you. She's been eating yoghurt, and I'm going to try her with a frozen bagel. Its horrible when lo's are ill, more so when they're babies. Makes you feel so helpless.
