Not sure if this is the best place to post, but here goes!
DS has to go into hospital for an operation in a couple of weeks. He suffers from high anxiety and receives CBT weekly from CAHMS to help him with this. One of his anxieties is related around illness and germs, so as you can imagine this is going to be massively stressful for him. We have been invited to go in for a look around next week to help prepare him. I was wondering if anyone else who has done this could let me know what to expect, regarding waiting around, going in for the OP, when they come around after etc. I feel like I need to know so that I can help him.
Also another complication is that his Dad (ExH) works abroad and won't be around to help out, nor will my Mum and Dad, who are my main support network. I am anxious about how DS is going to deal with everything, and feel like I might need some hand holding, but I don't have anyone. Has anyone done this on their own before? Was it ok?
Third issue is that Mum and Dad are going on a holiday of a lifetime (end of work -Dad has retired) which is costing them thousands. They go a few days before the OP. I don't know whether to tell them or not. I know my mum will stress loads and feel really guilty going away and not being here, but I absolutely don't want them to ruin their holiday. But also I think they will be upset if I don't tell them! What should I do?!
