Hi guys, I've googled n googled this n doc is clueless too. Just wondered if anyone knows what or how to help.
About 2weeks ago my little boy started with a stuffy nose,no snot or temp just sounds snotty. So think its congestion, got so bad at night that he stopped breathing at sporadic intervals, took him to docs n he said his chest is fine but he's got thrush in mouth,n he's just congested, get a humidifier. Ok great got that,he's got medicine for thrush. A week later no better,he's fine in day time but as soon as it's night,he's irritable, sneezing all the time now n coughing a bit, still no fever or snot but he's constantly hungry. Gonna go back to docs cos there's something not right n it's scary listening to him at night. I just don't get it

Not sure anyone could safely offer a diagnosis with the symptoms you mention. I can however offer ways that might help.

Raise one end of his cot to help with his stuffy nose (draining). Just put a cushion between the slats and the mattress, so not near him, to help elevate one end.

I'm sorry that I don't have any advice for you, other than the sniffly nose but not snotty sounds like how I feel at the moment. DH has it too, as does our 3 year old DD. That's why we are up at this time too!

Incidentally my throat has also been scratchy for a few days.

Clearly DH is far sicker than we are Confused Grin

Or put books under the legs at the head end - better than bending the mattress.

If you are worried, go back to doc. It doesn't sound too serious, but things can go downhill quite rapidly in little ones. Ds ended up with RSV at 11 weeks and spent hours on a nebuliser for days. Some kids are just noisy at night though...

Thanks guys, me n hubby got sore throats n a bit of a dry cough too so it could just b winter related I guess, its just scary hearing him. His crib is slightly elevated as he gets mild relux if he lies flat, been using saline drops in his nose n the humidifier. Gonna take him back to docs, he's no worse, just no better. He's a happy chap most of the time, laughing n playing, its just weird how he gets grizzly nose n irritable as soon as it turns to night. Xx

Just a thought- if it's just at night have you ruled out allergy? can you change his sheets/blanket- is he on an old or new matress- have you washed his night wear in something different- is he sleeping near any plants/ air vent/ table with cosmetics that he may be reaction too- Have you changed any of your toiletries? Allergies and their associated conditions like asthma and eczema often present at night- worth a try making some changes I recon before you start getting referrals to ent doc...
