Hi, i have an 11 day old baby who was born at 36weeks. The past two nights she's been quite wheezy which has been making her restless. She seems to be fine in the day. This is our first child and i don't want to worry about every little thing but she sounds quite distressed. Do anyone know what this might be? Should i take her to the doctor?

Very possibly croup.

Take here to the doctor tomorrow. My sister had it quite badly.

Or bronchiolitis. Very common in babies. My ds had it and I was surprised how seriously doc took it as it can often get worse and many babies end up in hosp. Suggest you call gp first thing if it is B they will want to prescribe an inhaler and possibly steroids. Dont panic though the bast majority of babies recover quickly.

If she sounds like a purring cat (and you can feel vibrations in her back) it will be Bronchiolotis- do call out of hours or go to a&e if you are worried in the night- b can get worsr very quickly

If it is bronchiolitis would she show other signs. All she is, is wheezy at night. Its only for a short period of time. She will wheeze for approx a minute then squeek then she seems fine for about 5-10 mins
