newborn with a cold

my 2 weeks old baby has a cold has anyone else experience that with thier babies x new mum so everything a bet scary for us.. Thanks xxx

I'd suggest Going doctors, If it's anything they can give they'll probably suggest some thing but it depends my little boy had a cold after he was born and if they get blocked nose i found the Saline drops worked well helped his airways clear. You'll probably find not much you can do but keep them warm and comfortable but if you're concerned go doctors it's very nerve wracking being a first time mum and not knowing what to do when they're ill. Is she feeding ok?
Lots of wet nappies?
Keep an eye on breathing - look out for tugging near the ribs.

If in doubt get checked over x

DS2 caught a cold off DS1 at about 2 weeks. I don't think there's a lot to be done as long as she's feeding well and having wet nappies. If you are anxious she's getting worse/not better, then call your GP.

To help her breathing, can you lift one end of her bed so her head is a bit elevated? Hope she feels better soon! Newborn colds are hard for parents!

Another vote for saline drops to help clear the little nostrils, and elevating one side of the cot to help at night time. I also put a few drops of Olbas oil on a muslin under my DD's head to help.

I'm a mother of 5, and the worries never go away! Panicking as my gps are not open until monday but i need to mind set to rest by getting her checked out. Trying not to panick, but it's hard for me not too with her being so small & helpless x
