Lumps in 19mo DS's neck

There's two of them on the right side of his neck, hard, underneath the skin and about half the size of peas. They don't seem to hurt him. They look/feel like ganglions and move fairly freely beneath the skin ie they don't appear to be attached to anything like a muscle or gland, but the neck can be a dodgy location for lumps.

Should I get these checked out?

I had the same with my son when he was 4. I took him to the doctors as I was worried. They sent him to a paediatrician who took bloods and felt the rest of his glands. They think his lumps where a reaction to chicken pox.

Has your DS had a virus lately?

I did wonder as soon as I posted this if I was getting worried about perfectly operational lymph nodes! He's recovering from quite a heavy cold. I did think swollen lymph nodes would be closer to the jaw, though. These are below, possibly slightly behind his ear, about half to two-thirds of the way down the side of his neck.

That's about exactly were my sons were and on the same side of his neck as well.

I would go to the doctors if you are worried or if they stay swollen for a week or two. Though I have no medical background so someone may say something different.
