We're having terrible problems getting rid of threadworms that DS contracted at school despite medication & hygiene regime. Feeling quite desperate and gp pretty useless. If anyone has any experience of this recurring and how they got rid of them I would be really grateful. I know all the ins and outs of how they are contracted & spread but any practical advice would be really appreciated. Thanks to anyone :)

What I do is. Everyone in the house gets treated. Bed stripped and washed plus all teddies that are in bed and PJ's, every day. Whole room hoovered, and mattress everyday. Showers in am and pants straight on, towel into wash straight away. Wash hands before eating. At bed time put a nappy type cream around the anus ( prevents the worms from laying eggs on skin and so reduces itching. ) pants on under PJ's, every night check bottom to see if worms still coming out. If so remove. Keep checking until clear. then reduce the daily washing. Retreat medication 2 weeks from initial dose. This works for us.
