Hi
Has anybody had any experience of this? Dd is 3.5 and has had curly toe since birth. My dh Took her to gp the other day about a suspected twisted ankle and the GP remarked on the toe and that it would need further investigation. He implied that he was surprised it had not been dealt with earlier.??? We had pointed it out to an orthopaedic registrar at our local hospital when she was about 6m old but he did not suggest there was anything that needed to be done.
We are waiting for him to write a referral letter but my dh did not ask to whom !
Thanks for reading

My DD who has just turned 5 had this. Her third toes on each foot were curled under. She was referred to orthopedics by a Physio (who she was seeing about something else) and the orthopedics consultant first saw her when she was 3.5.

He wasn't overly concerned and said that plenty of people lived with their toes like this - minor surgery was an option but as they were not causing any discomfort at the time, he would see her again in 12 months to review.

We went back in September and he recommended that she has surgery to straighten the toes on both her feet whilst she was young. We went in on 11 November and It was a simple procedure, done as a day case under general anaesthetic which took no more than 45 mins, she just had a stitch at the base (underside) of each toe. Once she came round and had eaten, been to the toilet and was mobile we were discharged.

DD bounced back really quickly and wasn't off her feet for very long and didn't complain of any pain whatsoever. She's perfectly fine now.

Thanks so much - that is very helpful and reassuring. We will see what the orthopod says!

My daughter had this she is 21 months old. Basically her third toe curled under her second one and pushed it up (if that makes sense) she had this prob on both feet but her left was worse. Took her to the dr who refered her to the hospital. To cut the story short she had an operation done on both third toes involving the tendon in it. She had this done about 3months ago she is absoulutly fine however you can tell she has had something done because they are quite straight. Sorry to have gone on so much Smile
