Anything I can do for DS?

I have a 1yr old DS,

He's been running a temp of 38.8 all day, I have given him ibuprofen which says no more than 3x2.5ml doses per day, he's had all 3.

He's in a vest only and is really hot, he's still drinking plenty so I'm not concerned about dehydration.

His face is angry red and he's covered in a generic viral rash.

Seen 2 drs now, first one said it was a severe ear infection and gave antibiotics which we finished, 2 dr said it was viral and to ride it out with painkillers to keep him comfortable.

Is there anything else I should be doing for him? Poor little guy, he's usually chatty and fill of beans but he's been glued to my side just watching the world all day between bottles and lots of naps.

Paracetamol can be used alongside ibuprofen, have you got any infant suspension (cal pol or similar). Give them spaced apart as per dosage on bottle.

I do have some Asda infant suspension paracetamol. I'll give him some when he wakes up again. Hopefully he'll fight whatever this thing is off soon.

I don't usually worry over a temperature, but is it not coming down with ibuprofen at all? If it's not coming down at all, I would call for advice.

Has he been tested for UTI? That can give high temperatures that don't seem to respond.

Thanks everyone, we spent the night on the children's ward, he's got acute tonsillitis, they've swabbed the pus on tonsils to send off and started antibiotics.
We're back at home now using ibuprofen and paracetamol at the same time to manage the temp.

Hope he's better soon.

Oh bless him. Hope he starts to improve for you soon ( and you get some sleep).

Hope he's on the mend soon. Both of mine are just getting over tonsillitis too. Miserable thing it is.
