My youngest daughter wants counselling to overcome shyness. Do I go through her GP or is there some other body I should speak to?

I'd say GP is the first port of call.

Thanks. :)

Is there a counsellor attached to her school, maybe?

No, I don't think so Millie. She wouldn't see a school counsellor anyway. They just give the same standard remarks every parents evening, "lovely girl but needs to come out of her shell".
She'd want to see somebody totally independent from the school.
