Struggling with Infatrini

We have a 14 week old boy, born 3 weeks prem, with low birth weight (4lbs 8oz). He has been put on infatrini as weight gain is very slow. However, I am now finding that he is taking less of the infatrini each day, and each feed is a struggle. Not sure if he might have reflux, got a prescription for gaviscon from GP yesterday (over the phone with the nurse, NO appts!!!) seeing the paed again on 13th nan, but with no one around to speak to over Xmas, it is feeling very hard right now! I have been looking online to see how other people found the infatrini in the early days but no joy, he has been on it for 2 weeks now.

does he struggle with the flow rate of the teat? Have you tried a faster one?

If the formula us thicker than the previous one, he may be working too hard to suck and wearing him out. I would try a faster flow teat, but also try to keep him at a steeper angle as you feed him to get gravity help on the way down, try to wind frequently.

You mention reflux, is he sicky? DD2 was always chucking up a mouthful or two. We found the Gaviscon helped, but later discovered she was lactose intolerant. DD2 was also premature at 36+1 but she weighed in at 5lb 13 oz.

Good luck.

Thank you for your advice. We bought different tests todsy which seem to be better already. Trouble is he then drank it so fast he was sick anyway and he is poorly. It is endless with this little one.
