crusty ear

DD aged 3.10 has a crusty ear so it appears some fluid must be leaking from it?!?

She has no temp, and is otherwise seemingly well, although she did have an upper respiratory tract infection 10 days ago - she finished anti-b's for that last Wednesday. She has a stuffed up nose following that infection but it's not bothering her.

Does crustiness in the ear automatically mean ear infection? I have asked if she's put anything in her ear and she says no, which I am inclined to believe.

I'm just trying to work out if an emergency GP appointment will be needed tomorrow - am currently on a feeding marathon with 5 day old DD2 so trying to work my logistics!

Could be an ear infection which has perforated the eardrum. If so, she should really have antibiotics. My DD2 had a run of this as a baby and the GP wanted her to have ABs every time to stop the infection spreading to the middle ear. However, I would have thought you'd have noticed her being out of sorts- an infection bad enough to have fluid leaking would have made her pretty uncomfortable.

Might be best to get it checked out.
