High temp but nothing else

Dd is nearly 3, her temperature was 39.5 last night but absolutely no other symptoms, she is eating, drinking passing urine and would tell me if she was in pain. Calpol brings her temp down but it goes back up when the calpol wears off. Should I take her to the gp/ooh or wait and see?

My daughter has had the same two or three times now. The last time she had it, the temperature went but she vomited 3 days after it did. If it was me, I would monitor the temperature as you are doing, and as long as it was responding to the Calpol, and she seemed well, I wouldn't go to the GP.

Thanks thats what I was thinking, she has had urine infections in the past but her temp didn't come down with calpol then so I'm hoping it's notjing too serious.

We had it last month. Very high temp with no other symptoms but for a few headaches Kept a close watch for meningitis. Took 4 days but went with no GP visit. Alternated Calpol & ibuprofen every 4-6 hours.
It went around her class as well.
Don't think you need to worry, probably a viral. Hope she's better soon!

DD3 had this - turned out to be gastroenteritis. She had just a very high temperature for 3 days (40.5 at its highest) with no specific symptoms, then on day 4 started diarrhoea. Today is the first day she's done more than sit on the sofa.
