How to ease a cough

My dd has a terrible cough. She has intense coughing fits for up to an hour until she vomits a ball of mucus. It's really scary but the doc says it's just nasal drip.

How can I help her when she's having the fits?

I searched on here and found a thread about using manuka honey for coughs it worked a treat for my little boy.

Its worth a try.
