Upper lip tie

DD is 10mo, and I think she has upper lip tie

I've only just noticed as her 2 to teeth are coming through and there looks like there will be a gap

When she smiles or cries her top lip isn't any higher than her gums if that makes sense?

Is this something that I need looking at by a doctor or dentist? Or is it ok to just leave?

Just be aware that most upper lip ties are accompanied by a tongue tie, often posterior.

There can be far reaching consequences to untreated ties (as per ds1), but as with most things, it's a spectrum and there are some people who don't suffer badly at all. Are there any other symptoms that are often associated with ties? Feeding problems, either milk and/or solids, sleeping problems, gut issues, allergies/intolerences, snoring, mouth breathing to name a few.

You need to have an expert assess it before you decide if it needs any further action.

Your doctor or dentist is unlikely to be that expert.

There is a group on facebook called tongue tie babies support group. Ask to join and you will find all sorts of people on there with lots of knowledge and experience.
