My lovely DS has woken up with a swollen jaw, behind and below is ear. The swelling is big but not red or bruised but is v sore to the touch. He's fine in himself. Any ideas?

Swollen glands maybe?

This used to happen to me in the run up to a stinking cold when I was younger. Does it hurt to swallow?

Aren't glands more like balls? This is just a large tender swelling. Probably 3 inches by an inch and a half.

Doesn't hurt to swallow but does hurt to chew. I think it's his jaw but have no idea what's wrong with it

My ds just got over a lymph gland infection which sounds similar, his wasn't red or hot but very swollen, it was like a plum under the skin, I'd get it checked at the GP as it took over a month to get him better.

It's really swollen now and it's too late for the docs. Poor little man isn't happy and I don't know what to do Hmm

I would have taken him to OOH last night, you cant be too careful with swellings/infections that close to the brain.

Has he had his MMR? Could be mumps?
