Seasonal asthma?

Ds2 (2yrs) has been to the doctors again this winter for wheezing, has a ventolin pump, which he has needed on occasion. Doctor suggested seasonal asthma and that if we go in again may start on becotide (sp?). DS1 has asthma and has been treated for this since 9 mths, ds2 seems so much more 'well' than he was that I fear I might be minimising it (does that make sense?).

I thought that as long as he was having minimal ventolin then a brown inhaler would be unnecessary? Was a long time ago that we started on that route with DS1 so memory a bit rusty.

I'm asthmatic and so is my ds2 (age 3) it's my understanding that a preventer is needed if u r regularly using the blue ds2 was givin the clenil bcos he needed ventolin on a daily basis if ur preventer is effective u shouldn't need ur blue at all theoretically. My asthma has always been worse over winter same with ds2 tho summer this yr we both really suffered with the pollen. I would go with what ur gp is saying as they're normally v reluctant to treat/diagnose when they're so small as I'm finding again with my dd just started a thread in desperation so if they think he needs I'd go with that x

Thanks. I remember hard it was to get then to take me seriously with ds1 (changed doctors in the end), I was desperate. Maybe that's why I was a bit taken aback when they were so proactive with ds2. Had a terrible night with ds2, coughing etc, maybe time to go back.

I hope you get your DD sorted soon.

Bless u and ur ds. It's awful
When they're up all night coughing. Night time cough is a sign that it's poorly controlled so he will prob benefit from the preventer x
