Should I let her go to school tomorrow? One eye is reddish and a bit sticky. It started two days ago and she has been using cream but it doesn't seem to have helped much

The nhs advise that children don't need to be kept off school for conjunctivitis unless they are also very ill with it, or the school requests they stay home due to an outbreak.
I hope it clears up soon for her, it's such a yucky thing to have.

It's highly contagious and possibly isn't at it's peak yet. I looked like I'd been punched in tge face my eye swelled up so much. Please don't send her in.

Or ask tge school

AuntieStella · 16/12/2013 06:47

How comfortably can she see? I remember when I had it that it felt gritty and hard to keep looking. If it's like that for her, not much benefit from being at school.

But if not painful, then she could go in.

My two dd's had this a couple of months ago. The gp prescribed antibiotics and school said once they had started treatment they could return to school. I had to sign a form so school could put the drops in at lunchtime.

Thank you everyone, I think I'll keep her off today as she,s uncomfortable it useful to know what the nhs advises.
