Dc1 has had explosive diarrhea since early this morning. He's been in the shower twice already due to he not being able to control it Sad I'm giving him dry toast and he's eaten an under ripe banana. Is there anything else I can give him to help bind him up? He's in bits. We were all supposed to see Father Christmas today but can't go now just incase something happens, my poor little boy, he's so upset and keeps telling me he won't do anything if we go Sad

You really don't want to bind him up. If it's a bug it needs to come out, it's the body's' way of expelling it. Has he vomited at all?
Just keep up fluids to avoid dehydration, how old is he?

Hi, thanks for replying!

He's just 6. No he hasn't vomited thankfully just the other way. What can I give him to hydrate him? Water? My Mum suggested flat 7 Up, she said the sugar would help but I'm thinking the sugar would feed the upset?? I hate this, thankfully my kids rarely get sick but when they do I'm at a loss Sad

Basically anything he will drink, water, squash(not sugar free) etc. He's old enough to not worry too much about dehydration if he's normally fit and well and especially if he's not vomiting.
Unfortunately I think Father Christmas is out for him today, on the bright side, at least it's not Christmas eve.

Thank you for your help Smile Its horrible not knowing what to do. Dh is at work today so its just me and the kids.

Have made a deal with him if he drinks the water, we might do Father Christmas after school during the week.

Mine were rarely ill too, with D&V it's generally just a case of waiting it out. It does mean no school on Monday though, not sure if he'll see that as a bonus or not!
