Persistant cough

My grandson(aged 10 months) has recently started going to nursery 3 days a week. For the last 3 weeks he has had a persistent cough. He doesn't have a raised temperature or any difficulty breathing, so they don't want to start antibiotics. I was wondering whether its worth me offering to buy a humidifier. Does anyone have any experience of these, or any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I've had my head over steaming cups of hot water to try to settle my cough, might be worth a try.

My two girls are coughers and humidifiers definitely helped them at night. Try rubbing Vicks on his feet as well.
