DD started school in Sept and recently turned 5. She has never been a great eater but apart from chickenpox in nursery has never been ill.

In the last few weeks she has had a minor cold/cough that she never quite shakes off and very dry lips. I'm assuming she is deficient in some vits/minerals.

She never ate much fruit and doesn't eat any at all these days. I wasn't too concerned as she does has smoothies a couple of times a week and always ate a great selection of vegetables.

She has started eating less and less of her dinner and I don't think she is getting enough veg now. She used to eat fish - salmon, seabass etc but won't touch it now.

I am working on improving her diet again but I am wondering about introducing a supplement. Has anyone any recommendations are all they all pretty much the same?

Also I'd like to give an Omega one. Any suggestions on those?

No supplements unless given by a doctor is what I was told...and I agree. See the GP...ask about her ongoing cough/cold and also about her appetite. Does she drink enough water and get good sleep?

Minadex, brilliant iron tonic, been around forever, eat baked beans/ sweet corn etc as it makes you constipated!

I give mine a multi vitamin. Seems to keep colds away. They take a while to kick in. I have heard from others that Minadex is great too.

Thanks for the replies. I think I might give the Minadex a try.

I'm not sure she warrants a trip to the GP just yet. The cough/cold is really very minor but I'll keep an eye on her.

I was a bit stricter with her today as regards food and she ate a bit more.

Low iron can make you apetite drop I think. Also rough lips and feel cold. Perhaps bulk up what she will eat with fattening stuff. Cereal has iron so coupled with milk would be good. Also vit C helps iron absorb. Orange juice may be an answer.
