Is this chicken pox? How soon can you be sure?

DD2 is 2.5.

Symptoms are: clingy and a bit out of sorts for a couple of weeks but nothing obviously wrong.

High temperature and sleepy on Thu, temp up all day despite calpol but fine by Fri.

Yesterday evening noticed 2 very small red spots on her face, one on her hand. Today 1 spot has got bigger, the others look the same.

Really unhappy last night, couldn't settle and slept badly.

So, does this sound like the start of chicken pox? Can someone please describe what the spots are like at first, and how quickly they come out? Also, we were planning on going out for lunch today with extended family- obviously I will leave DD2 with DH, but is it ok to still go with DD1 who has no symptoms?

Have you googled for pictures? All the rest is generic, it's the red spots that confirm. And lots of them, I wouldn't diagnose anything from just 3 spots (unless she was exposed to CP just about 2 weeks ago?).

I would go out with the DD1; if it is CP she's got about 10 days before she might be contagious from her contact with the DD2.
