On Tuseday evening dd1 (10) started complaining of stomach pains. It wasn't long after she'd eaten her tea so put it down to probably having eaten to fast, bit of wind. She went to bed, but was up and down all night, neither of us got any sleep. She has a temperature and had little bit of diarrhoea in the middle of the night and early that morning.
She was really suffering with the pain so worried it might have possibly been her appendix I took her the GP yesterday morning. He checked her over, asked where the pain was (mostly around the belly button). He said it was difficult to tell but was probably just a bug. But to bring her back if she started vomiting and the pain moved to the right hand side.
She vomited yesterday afternoon, and then later said the pain had moved along to the right as well as still being in the middle. So I took her the walk in centre yesterday evening. She was thoroughly checked over there, and they tested her urine. Urine came back with some bacteria in (which the doctor said was normal because of the diarrhoea) and a very small trace of a possible water infection. But the results couldn't necessarily be relied to diagnose a water infection as the urine was contaminated with diarrhoea.
She felt and listened to dd's stomach and said it sounded like there was a lot of gases swirling around in there, which was probably causing the pain. Her appendix felt fine. It was probably Gastroenteritis and to just give her bland food and water for the next day or so.
She managed to get some sleep last night, and seemed a little better this morning, although still had the pains. Today she's eaten small amounts and has kept them down, no vomiting for over 24 hours now. She also had a normal poo earlier, no diarrhoea. But the pains are getting worse. She's started almost (not quite) crying with the pain now. She's gone to bed with a hot water bottle, but I'm not sure if she'll get any sleep tonight.
Shouldn't the pains be easing off now she's had it for over 48 hours? Especially because there's been no more V&D. She has ASD which I'm not sure effects her pain threshold? Making her feel it more than an NT child, or possibly not feeling it as much as an NT child. Also on Tuesday evening before coming home and getting the pains she handball practice in school, could she has possibly pulled a muscle (or something) in her stomach?
Need advice please as I I'm really worried and don't know whether I should be taking her back to the doctors tomorrow (they'll love me won't they
) or whether it's best to just give it time?
