Son is 12wks today, took him to doc on Friday as slight temp sleeping a lot (21hrs in a 24hr period) and struggling to take half his usual amount of milk, was told to give him calpol, took him back yesterday as he was no better so was sent to hospital after 9hrs of monitoring and blood test they think it is viral infection he was still sleeping around 21hrs and feeding very little. today is worse he has been awake more of the day but been very unsettled but I have only managed to get him to take 13oz of milk (usually does 30ozs) and 2oz of apple juice (doctor told me to do the apple juice) in a 14hr period and he will not wake up enough to feed at night (have stripped him, bought him down stairs, ect and he wont take any feed)
Getting really worried that he has not fed properly for 6 days now and it seems to be getting harder and harder to feed him. bedtime feed tonight he managed an ounce before spitting it out and falling asleep i just really don't think he is getting enough nutrients to help him fight of this virus and is maybe one of the reasons he is sleeping so much - any ideas on how i can encourage him to take any form of food or liquid? |Even thought i might make some baby cereal really really runny a try him on that? thoughts would be so appreciated
