Mucus in poo- could it be allergy related?

dS has only recently had wheat (he's 2) due to DD and I both being severely intolerant (not sure whether celiac or not but can't tolerate even a trace so that's all I need to know I think.
DS had a breadstick at nursery earlier this week for about the 4th time (first 3 seemed fine) but had tummy ache and the worst smelling diarrhoea I've seen and full of mucus. 4 days on his poo is still enormous and full of disgusting, wobbly mucus.
Does this sound like an allergy thing or a bug or should I see a GP?
He's been dairy intolerant too but that's easing I think so I let him have small amounts. Many thanks if anyone has advice
