Any ideas to help ds? He is 4, has been dry in the day and night for a year now. He has recently though been wet in the day, and the frequency seems to be increasing - 3 times yesterday. I haven't made a big deal of it - sometimes it has just been unfortunate - middle of shop with no toilets, other times it has been at home within 2 meters of the bathroom. Sometimes he seems aware but gets there too late, other times he completely denies that he is wet. He isn't keen on being asked to go for example just before we go out. I try to cajole him to try if I know that access is limited. The rest of the time - at home for example I leave it to him to take himself as he has been doing this for over a year now. Most of the accidents have been at home.
His bowels are slightly sluggish but he still goes every other day and fairly sure he's not massively constipated. He does tend to leave that a bit late then gets in a panic but I just calm him down and he always gets there on time. He did have dioreah about 10 days ago but that calmed down - I think it may have been after having lactulose for a short while - that has now stopped. He had it to reduce straining as he had an umbilical hernia repaired three weeks ago.
Other than the operation he hasn't had any major life events, he doesn't seem to have any behaviour issues beyond not wanting to collect his sisters from school when every day he has a tantrum he hasn't been wet at nursery, but he only does half days and is most likely to be wet first thing in the morning or late afternoon so not during nursery time.
Phew, massive op - any ideas, suggestions? Planning to go to GP when I can get an appointment- will ring this am, but wondering if anyone has any ideas in the meantime.
