6 month old with 'bark' sounding cough

He's had it for a few days, far from persistent but certainly noticeable. Today he woke up with a runny nose too.

I've just looked up symptoms of croup and apart from the cough and runny nose, nothing else fits.

He's usually a very happy, laid back baby. Today he has been more tired and a bit more grumpy than usual.

Any ideas?

Barking cough is usually croup or a nasty upper respiratory infection.

DS2 (4) had a barking cough a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was croup (he gets it fairly often) so got him some steroids, but they didn't clear it like they normally do. It lingered for several days, and made him really tired, but there were no other ill effects. Don't know what it was, but it was the first time that a croupy cough didn't seem to be croup.
