Basically that, rest of the family have had stinking colds but he hasn't yet. Called out last night with a headache in his forehead. Has had them occasionally over the years. But for some reason I'm panicking today. He's fine today and leaping today like a goodun! X

Is he drinking enough? DS gets headaches and migraines from dehydration.

mandmsmummy · 02/11/2013 12:09

Possibly not cider he did ask for a drink too x

I was going to say that too - dehydration seems tobe the only reason DS 8 has ever gotten a headache. It has made him sick on one occasion too.

Thanks all. He's had mild headaches for years but not many so I've never been worried. I think it was because he woke up with it. He doesn't drink enough (like me) so will step that up. X

It makes me cross when I read posts on here which suggest that headaches in children are abnormal! X

Well ds was poorly again yesterday evening, headache (achy feeling across his forehead) and felt sick. Slept ok and seems fine this morning. Bit headachy and says he feels sniffly. I'm thinking he's coming down with the cold I have. He's fine one minute but not the next tho very strange x

DD gets headaches for 3 reasons: dehydration; fever; onset of a cold.

I think they're the three most common causes of headache in a child. She's only got them at the onset of a cold since she's been old enough to have blocked sinuses. Small children don't have this problem.

If you've all had a cold and he's sniffly and headachy then I'd assume that he's fighting off the same thing. DH and I both have a cold atm and the main symptom is an ache across our foreheads. It's sinus related if the reams of luminous yellow/green discharge are to be believed.

Thanks stumps, I think you're right. Bless him he's hardly ever ill so doesn't cope very well when he is (just like me!) x

My eldest two were very poorly yesterday with what my 5yo ds called a 'brain ache'. One up from a headache it seems! Their 18 mo brother has just had chicken pox so I'm wondering if this is the start of it for them too. Their temperatures were raging too. Is there anything like that doing the rounds near you?

DeWe · 03/11/2013 14:02

If it's front head which gets worse if you bend forward, then I get that prior to sinusitis. That sort of aches across the front of the face.

mandmsmummy · 03/11/2013 16:31

No chickenpox as far as I know. I'm thinking its sinuses too as he is ok one min and not the next. X

Mine has had headaches because of a quite serious bug, which I think came from swallowing sea water - campylobacter - and from drinking pepsi max when we went out with another family, he had never had cola before Sad and he threw up as well. Caffeine I think, I get headaches from caffeine withdrawal, and I don't even drink cola or coffee - just eat chocolate sometimes, and have decaff tea.

Only reasons I can think of.

mandmsmummy · 03/11/2013 16:55

This bug seems to come and go, he will suddenly say he feels sick and something's a headache with it but is fine not long after. Cheeks seem a bit flushed on and off too. As we've had colds I'm guessing he has a sinus version of it. I had sinusitis lots years ago and remember it making me feel very sick x

So he's poorly again today, been every other day and now a headache again. Still on his forehead, said he felt funny outside. I'm still think it's sinuses as he's had nausea too. Trying not to panic about anything serious. Sad x
