Around 1 in 5 children suffer with an undiagnosed eye condition and it is important that parents are vigilant with their children’s eyesight. Squints, excessive blinking and soreness are all common signs of conditions that if left untreated, could result in vision loss.

So what can you do to best protect your children’s eye health?

  1. Firstly, make sure they attend annual eye examinations with an experienced optometrist throughout their school life.
  1. Be sure to ask the optometrist about any concerns that you have with your children’s vision.
  1. If your children need glasses, make sure you choose robust frames.
Be vigilant. Provide a well-lit environment for them to work and play in.
  1. Protect their vision against harmful UV rays with high quality sunglasses and tints.

By the time they start school it could already be too late. Whether you think they have a problem or not take them for an eye test at 3.
