Help - anyone have safe ideas for changing a morning poo time?

My 4 year old boy is fully toilet trained but wakes up very early (anytime between 4.30 and 6.00am) for a morning poo. This is making him (and mum) very tired and wondered if anyone had any ideas how to alter the time? He does wear pull ups in the night but does not want to poo in these as he wants to use the 'big' toilet, the same with using a potty.

Can't help but am watching with interest, DD2 (nearly 5) sleeps in nappies but gets up about 6.30 for a poo. She has a groclock so she knows if it's still night time and will go back to bed quietly. Also she goes to the toilet by herself so I hear her going in there, then just rouse myself for bum wiping and crawl back to bed.

Would love to hear some ideas though...

Nice to know I am not alone!! He can go to the toilet by himself but like you I need to crawl out of bed to help. He goes back to sleep (I do eventually) but is making him tired especially since the clocks went back!

Can you teach him to wipe himself so that he wouldn't need to wake you?

change meal times.

if it is all related, that is the only thing that would change it.

but my body is like this - like clockwork and it is hard to change

Ds is 5 and goes for his morning poo between 5.30am-6am every day without fail. I have finally got him wiping his own bum but he still insists on waking me to announce he's going for a poo and turns on every light on the house Hmm. Once I'm awake I cannot get back to sleep. Sorry no advice but you're definitely not alone.

Fruit made mine go.
Can you overload with fruit one day at the opposite time of the day to usual - ie bedtime if its normally breakfast fruit, and see if that changes the timing?
Or later food for every meal to make it all reach the other end later iyswim?

He eats fruit most of the day and on occasion he has a tea time poo and still a morning one! he can wipe his own bum but likes to tell me when he is going and makes that much noise I wake up anyway! starting to think there is no easy solution! thank you all for your suggestions.

Lift him when you go to bed and pop him on the toilet
