Help, bribes not working!

My 3 year old has been prescribed Amoxicillin for a chest infection. Previously I've had no problem getting her to take antibiotics although last time was about 9 months ago for an ear infection and she was younger then. Now she absolutely will not take a drop. I give it in an oral syringe as a spoon would be impossible. I've bribed with everything I can think of and even sat on her and held her nose but that was horrid and she almost choked. There is no alternative due to the dose. Has anyone got any suggestions?

panic over. I made a fruit milk shake and hid the medicine in that and she's clueless!

Does she like jam or syrup or chocolate pudding? Mix it in.

Sorry OP I did not see it was you who reposted. Grin

If you can't get her to take it you can call your GP and get a prescription foray alternative - one option is Zithromax, great for ear infections, once daily dosing for 3 days and you're done. The dose volume is smaller than amoxycillin too.

Thanks all. 5mls is quite a large volume to hide and disguise and the taste is quite strong. I hope I can cotinue to make interesting fruit shake combinations for the next 5 days. Thanks to the poster who mentioned the alternative antibiotic. It's good to know there is another option. She's had a cough for 6 weeks now and I think it's only a matter of time before she gets proper poorly.
