Chesty cough after op

DS had minor surgery last Wednesday, and the day after had a really chesty cough which is continuing til today. Now I'm in no way worried about it, I started him on a cough bottle so hopefully it will clear. Just wondering if anyone else has heard of this side effect after a general?

yep my ds had a bead removed from his nose around a year ago when he was 3 and got a nasty wheezy cough afterwards. must be something to do with the general?

No need to worry, its perfectly normal after a general anaesthetic. I had it both times after my sections. Its to do with the trachae tube in airways. Hope he gets better soon

I had a general anaesthetic and got a cough after. went to GP as prone to chest infections. Was told it was due to the GA. Hope he feels better soon.
