We booked a GP appointment btw (not today). It's on Tuesday. We described the symptoms and we were told it didn't need an emergency appointment. I wanted an emergency appointment but was reassured for sure, am now doubting myself!

DD3 is 4.

For about a week and a half, she has:
Had headaches. This is most common in the morning, but it can be any time tbh. Not constant and usually a few days in between, and the pain seems to fluctuate a bit (she said it hurt then hurt a bit less then hurt a bit more etc;).

Some vomiting. Not severe, constant vomiting, just occasional spurts. Again, more common in the morning. Every few days, sometimes on days when she gets headaches but sometimes not.

She is clumsier. With her walking in particular. She's not the most coordinated child in the world but is a bit stumbly. She says she isn't feeling dizzy, but her legs just flop. Confused

She is pretty tired and feeling kind of floppy (weak? She said she felt floppy, not entirely sure what she means, and she isn't good at explaining stuff!) and exhausted. I'm guessing this could be caused by an under the weather type feeling from the other symptoms.

She's very irritable. Again, probably caused from tiredness and other symptoms.

Her words are a bit muddled. She is delayed and struggles verbally, and sometimes struggles more than most. This is probably caused by being ill as she gets less verbal/makes less sense generally when she's ill.

Sorry, I meant to say that I'd like an idea of some of the things the GP might suggest or test? Or if it's just a normal virus?

I wd go back tomorrow and get her seen by a doctor.

Guineapigfriend · 27/10/2013 19:23

Are you saying that her speech and balance have deteriorated since the headaches started?

NeeNaaw · 27/10/2013 19:24

I think I will. Writing it down makes it seem more serious (and I've been googling and came up with worrying stuff- but tbh, google any symptom, and it does that( but it really isn't a constant thing, it goes in bits, and it feels less serious until I see all the symptoms ifyswim.

Please go to the doctor tomorrow maybe print out what you wrote here.
It could be any number of things - from a virus with middle ear infection (causing vertigo) to something very serious. No one here is really going to be able diagnose until they see her and examine her. Hope she s ok.

BeaWheesht · 27/10/2013 19:33

It could be an ear infection. I'd get her an emergency appointment though. Afaik they can't deny you one if you push hard enough and if you go and it's nothing then what have you lost? If you don't go and it is serious then there's more at stake IMO.

NeeNaaw · 27/10/2013 19:36

Yes. Will go tomorrow for sure. It reminds me a little of an ear infection from a few years back (with dd1) but the symptoms were less severe in a way. Better safe than sorry for sure.

Either push for an appointment tomorrow or if she gets worse go to A and E. Please keep checking on her in the night.

I know I sound OTT but I would say if your child seems floppy, has difficulty speaking or seems to be altered go to A and E tonight.

girliefriend · 27/10/2013 19:47

Those symptoms sound really worrying, I would be worried and am normally quite laid back about health related things!

Take to a&e as it sounds worse than an ear infection to me and I have a dd who had lots of them. It sounds like something neurological to me Sad

toffeelolly · 01/11/2013 10:47

How is your little girl op? Hopefully all will be well.

SurvivalOfTheUnfittest · 07/11/2013 14:11

NeNaaw's dd obviously worried us all as i've just come online for an update too. Hope all is well.

BadgerBumBag · 07/11/2013 20:41

How is she NeeNaw?

tholeon · 08/11/2013 11:54

Hi there how is your little girl? I really hope it is just a bug for her. My Ds, also four, has had similar symptoms for a similar amount of time, minus the clumsiness and lack of coordination - he is bouncing around feeling well and energetic in between bouts of saying his head and tummy hurt. I took him to the Gp this morning and told her I was anxious about a brain tumour - I really am - she said it was probably just a bug but to bring him back in 2 weeks if the problems persist. He does have a runny nose and cough but he usually does pretty much all winter this time of year, and they predate the other symptoms by some time so I am not sure if they are connected. I hate worrying like this. She did look in his eyes etc and they were ok but am not sure how reassuring this is.... Anyone??

Sorry for hijacking of thread..

PJ67 · 09/11/2013 08:37

Hi tholeon. I have similar worries about my 4 yr old son just now who has been complaining of headaches on and off for the last few weeks. He also said that he felt dizzy and his eyes were sore and I have been panicking about a brain tumour. I have taken him to the optician and GP and as usual just told to keep an eye on things. What symptoms is your son having?

tholeon · 10/11/2013 14:30

Hi there, just headaches and occasional sickness. Am probably being a bit of a loon. I hope so. Have booked an opticians appointment for next week as we have a family history of eye problems. Gp said just keep an eye on it and come back if no better in two weeks. Weekend good so far so hoping.

VJsmom · 01/12/2013 19:36

I'd really like to know how neenaaws dc is, hope all is well xx
