Helping a baby learn to cough

I have a nearly 10mo baby who has a cold.

He is finding it quite distressing because he can't cough and he has a lot of catarrh I think, he sounds all gurgly.

Is there anything I can do? I have tried making coughing sounds at him - I know he can cough as occasionally he does it without thinking - but is there anything else I can do?

Make him sneeze by gently tickling his nose...I used to use a thread or the corner of a tissue.

Thankyou that is great advice Smile

Seems like he has catarrh in the back of his throat, though, and can't seem to clear it sometimes.

But having a good sneeze would probably help.

You could run a steamy bath and the steam will loosen up the mucus. This should help with the coughing.
