Quick advice needed regarding high temp (3 year old)

Dd (3) has a temp of 39.5 very red cheeks and feels very hot around her top half (head, shoulders, arm pits) she's just had the runs but only once. No sickness, has eaten and drank well all day. Currently sitting on my knee eating an ice lolly and watching telly. Very happy in herself so I'm not worried as such. Given calpol 20 minutes ago. Is 39.5 considered a high temp? She's never had a temperature so I'm not sure. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Its a high temp, hopefully the calpol another half hour or so and it should start coming down.

I find child ibuprofen works better for temp with my toddler think you can give it a couple of hours after calpol. Hope she's feeling better soon

If she seems fine in herself that's a great sign. Keep her fluids up and if temp doesn't come down with meds in an hour give NHS a call.

She went to bed fine. Temp was 39.2 so was coming down gradually but she was totally fine in herself. She's had a bit of a cough since Saturday so I'm hoping its a head cold rather than a bug. Might pop up shortly and take her temperature again. Will definitely try ibuprofen if she wakes in the night. Thanks for all the advice Smile
