Bad behaviour after grommets?

DS got grommets 1.5 weeks ago. He's almost 5. No glue ear, but it was exploratory because of hearing loss; they put them in because he had negative ear pressure when they made the cut.

Since then, he's had massive bags under his eyes, and his behaviour has been HORRIBLE.

wednesday night he complained one ear hurt; thursday at school pickup there was loads of fluid draining from his ear, but he seemed no different than he'd been all week.

No Dr apointment available until monday to check. The next ENT appointment has been scheduled for 12 weeks away! they don't check in the interim, apparently.

Thoughts? Recommendations, please anyone? Not sure why he's acting so poorly, and not sure if i should worry about the ear. TIA

I would phone up and ask for an emergency appointment with the ENT consultant. That's what I've always been told to do if I've concerns after grommets. You may be able to ask for a telephone consultation, and then the consultant will say if he wants to see him.

Ds has always had a 6 week check, but then nothing (unless requested) for 6 months.

Thanks; got a phone consult and some antibiotics ...
Plus my happy, non devil, boy is back in the last 24 hours. Bliss!
