Childrens Cough

My 5 year old dd has started with a chesty cough, really only noticeable at night and in the morning as with most coughs. I got a message from her dad last night to tell me he is forbidding her from going to the stables (where her pony is on loan) while she has a cough.

She was at the yard all day Saturday and i never heard her cough once she was well wrapped up and had lots of warm drinks and plenty of fluids and was having fun with her friends. Last night when i got her back from her dads and we were in the house she seemed to cough more as obviously it is a dry heat in the house.

I am now being told i am being unreasonable for not keeping her away from her pony, if i thought she was coughing more around him and the dust from the yard i would obviously take her home but she is not complaining at all. Am i best just making sure she is warm and well hydrated and letting her get on with it or should i keep her at home ?

He can't expect you to keep her indoors every time she has a cough! DS has asthma and if I kept him inside every time he has a cough we would never leave the house!

If you feel she is ok then I don't see why she can't carry on if wrapped up and warm
