4 months ago my DD had open heart surgery for a VSD and sub pulmonary stenosis. At our post op check they told us the devastating news the stenosis had grown back and they said they would need to monitor it closely. Last week we had an appointment with her cardiologist and he performed an echo and said there was a 'significant tightening' so we would need an emergency appointment at her specialist hospital the next week.
Well this appointment was on Friday and as you can imagine I was petrified. After another echo a different cardiologist came to see us and told me there was no concern and we could go home and just wait for our next appointment in clinic. I explained what the previous doctor said and she said it was 'human error.'
Now I am left feeling very uneasy and cannot take what should be great news! How do I go about getting a 2nd opinion preferably at a different hospital? I cannot see how specialist cardiologists can get a diagnosis so wrong and these were 2 clearly different views. I had the report for the initial consultation through the post yesterday and he even writes there is a 'high possibility of further surgery.'
Can anyone shed any light? Thank you in advance!
