Dribble/teething rash

Hi all, my DS (6 1/2 months) has a terrible rash/soreness under his chin to the top of his chest and all around the sides of his neck. I have been keeping a dribble bib off as this makes it worse but obviously as the dribble has nowhere to soak into without this it's falling onto his already sore skin. I have been applying a cream the doc gave us a few weeks back and Vaseline every couple of hours (so does the childminder) but it's not getting better! Anyone tried anything that really worked?
Thanks all!

Woollen vest. You can get really good, soft, machine-washable wool vests. Dd dribbled like an open tap until she was 18m. Changing dribble bibs every 1/2h, and wearing wool vests kept her neck and chest clear of the rash - which returned within 24h if I didn't use them.

Vaseline did not work for dd (brings me out in a rash, too), but Nivea lip balm on her chin helped a lot. Wiped her skin clean and reapplied it several times a day.

BTW my dribble bibs were not waterproof or plastic backed. They were just regular cotton bibs or bandanas, sometimes backed with thin towelling.

A midwife once recommended lansinoh nipple cream to me for sore chins.

I second the non waterproof cotton bibs. Change them as many times a day as you can. E45 cream helped when my DD had it. I think you just need to keep trying things until you find something that works for your baby.

How could I have forgotten about Lansinoh?! Even better than Nivea. Neutrogena Immediate Repair lip balm was also good, but Lansinoh the best.
