9 year old and sleep

My dd is 9 and always exhausted.
She says she wakes in the middle of night and doesn't sleep again most of the time. She says it ranges from 2am - 5am. The poor love is so tired and I'm lost for reasons and how to help her sleep through.
It has been the last year on and off. I am thinking it will affect her health if it isn't helped.
She never sleeps in on these occasions and is always up ready to start work, even if very lethargic.
I have tried the same type of settling routine as she had when very little, but this isn't always possible as her bedtime changes considering what she has been doing that night.
Should I take her to gp, it doesn't really seem necessary to involve a doctor.

hi morethan!
It is a funny time to wake isnt it? Most people either wake too early, or cant get to sleep in the first place.

Some thoughts/ideas from me

Does she get too hot in the night?
Does she get too cold in the night?
Does a light switch on or off during that time?
Is she woken by something? A machine you have on timer, or a noise outside perhaps?
Is she really awake when she thinkgs she is? You may need to go into her in the night a few times to check this out for yourself
Is she scared of somwthing when she wakes, and that keeps her awake for longer?
