Ah, my dc has nits for the first time. Found one life one this morning? Googled the best treatment and there are loads of different opinions. I have to go out this morning to get stuff to treat her. Have to get a nit comb and tea tree conditioner. Any experienced nit eradicators out there? What works best?

Do the treatment then nit comb every two days with the teatree conditioner. The cycle of a nit is 3 days so by doing every other you stop them breeding. The treatment should get them all the combing is just in case as a few are usually resilient.

After the two weeks continue using the teatree as it deters them. They can't jump and have to climb from hair to hair so try to keep your dd hair tied up, bun if poss this will help stop her getting them again.

Good luck x

Sorry forgot to say the nit combing only needs to be done for two weeks.

Thank you, have not found tea tree conditioner in the village. Grrr. Have nit combed both and got loads of eggs out. Will do again tonight and then every other day.
Is the chemical stuff really necessary? On googling most people say they are ineffective as nits get immune.

Oh and do I have to let the school know?

Not sure the chemicals are necessary tbh, they are right some survive. I always go with it though to kill the masses then do the two weeks to ensure the rest.

If you can't find teatree conditioner add a few drops of the oil to your usual conditioner. ( never done that on a kid, only my own so I don't catch them) check with the place you buy it from first.

Tea tree is only as a deterrent any conditioner will work.

It's nice to let your school know, they will be discrete and they can give other parents the heads up. Your daughter got them from somewhere.

Don't forget to treat your whole family.

They really are a pain in the.... You have my sympathy x
