Strong smelling (wet) nappy

My 14mo DS has had two very strong smelling wet (ie not poo) nappies today and I'm worried it's a urine infection. I plan to make a doctor's appointment for him in the morning but was wondering if anyone had any experience of this.

Dr google tells me they might have to give him a catheter for a urine test and that doesn't sound very nice. I've put some cotton wool in his nappy to see if I can squeeze out a sample when it's changed, but not sure it would be good enough to test.

He had immunisations yesterday but I can't find a anything that says this is a possible side effect. He doesn't seem to have a fever.

Any experience or advice welcome!

Has he eaten anything unusual? Some dietary components can give strong smelling urine, in some people

Thanks Millie, I've been trying to think of that too and I don't think he has. Nothing he doesn't usually have. The doctor has now given me a little bag to stick over his willy and hopefully it's catching urine as we speak. The doc did mention it might be the chemicals from the injections but can't find anyone who has experienced this online.
