DS 7 and allergies

I live overseas and really don't have much faith in the doctors here as they over-medicate for everything. At the first sign of a cold or flu they prescribe anti-biotics etc. Anyway DS has a mild allergy to dust and pollen. He gets runny eyes, nose, coughing and some mild wheezing. I do all I can to keep dust levels down at home. He seems to be ok most of the time - he has a reaction perhaps once a week. DH really feels that I should take him to the doctors to get him checked out. WWYD? Am I damaging his health by not medicating him when he has a reaction?

Yes, I give them to him when he is in some discomfort.
