Toddler with loose bowels

My DS bowels are looser than usual - softer, breaking up in the potty (Sorry, TMI).

Nursery won't have him if it's a tummy bug. How long does it usually last? And is it always a bug?

Should I stick to giving him starchy foods?

dunno about nursery - does he have a temp? does he appear unwell? usually a tummy bug feels awful. my dd quite often has loose stools but she's not ill, it's just the way her digestive system is.
yes to starchy foods (bananas, rice, apples, toast are best with diarrhoea apparently).
